Newport Beach, CA. October 2013 – CPS Insurance Services (CPS) secured a $10K grant from the National Association of Independent Life Brokerage Agencies (NAILBA) to support the Boys & Girls Clubs of Anaheim.
The grant will specifically fund their “Motel Kids and Distressed Neighborhoods Outreach Program”, which is designed to help disadvantaged children attend the Clubs free of charge. Nearly 65% of the children that attend are on a financial scholarship, unable to pay the annual $20 membership fee. The goal of the Clubs is to give these children an opportunity to grow, develop and enjoy childhood, and they rely heavily on fundraising to remain in operation.
The majority of the 2,500 children that are members of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Anaheim come from Section 8 Housing, foster care, or distressed living areas that are frequented by gangs. The Clubs currently provide free transportation in eight local neighborhoods, so children can attend their afterschool program which offers homework help, character and leadership building, arts and crafts, sports and games.
CPS employees visited the Boys and Girls Club to hand deliver the check for $10,000. They toured the surrounding neighborhoods, and then spent the afternoon playing games, sports, and doing arts and crafts with the children.
“We are very pleased to be able to help the Boys & Girls Clubs of Anaheim,” said Peter Holden, CEO of CPS Insurance Services. “This organization’s program aligned perfectly with NAILBA’s goals and we are happy to help support local children in any way possible.”
The NAILBA Charitable Foundation supports recognized charities that serve the needs of children in the US. The funds that are donated are collected from the 350 member agencies, like CPS, through donations and silent live auctions. In its nearly 10 years of existence, the NAILBA Charitable Foundation has given away more than a million dollars.
