How do you picture 2025? Who do you think will be running the workplace? How about Generation Y? According to the Bloomberg Business Summit, Millennials, or Generation Y, will make up the majority of the workforce by 2025.
Do not miss out on an opportunity! Millennials’ earning power will rise over the years.
Do you think they are aware of the risks to their income if they are sick or injured? Based on the CDA 2014 Consumer Disability Awareness Study, the answer is NO.
Why Millennials do not have income protection:
“I’ve never thought about it” is the number one reason why they don’t have income protection. And, for those specifically in their 20s, the next most common answers are:
- I can’t afford it.
- I don’t know enough about it.
- I don’t believe I’ll ever become too sick or injured to work.
Find new sales within the generation that will dominate the workforce in the upcoming years. Millennials have grown up during an era of economic turmoil, an inconsistent job market, and an uncertain society – much different from the ones their parents experienced.
At the same time, it’s been widely reported that Millennials want more meaning in their lives. They want to change the world. They want to have adventures. They want meaningful jobs and to make a difference. They may not know that a disability can get in the way of their dreams – educate Millennials on the importance of having income protection to help them bounce back from an adverse event and get on with their purposeful lives.
